We believe those who sacrificed while serving our country deserve to live full, active lives. Our mission is to empower veterans and first responders with limb differences to return to the hobbies, careers, and activities they love. We do this by providing adaptive equipment, training, and support.
The Warriors Prosthetic Initiative (WPI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping injured veterans and first responders regain capability and independence after limb loss.
Through our personalized support programs, we empower heroes with limb differences to return to the activities, hobbies, and careers they love.
Our Empowered Tools Initiative provides veterans and first responders with adapted power tool kits and training on how to use them effectively. As a result, participants can rebuild their capability to take on projects and tradeswork.
While the medical community does much for those with limb loss, the simple fact is - the world is not adapted to their specific needs.
The hobbies they enjoyed, the work they were trained for, and everyday activities are sometimes out of reach. This is particularly true with regard to power tools, gardening equipment, and sporting equipment.
Many veterans are trained to use tools, but those who have suffered an upper body limb loss struggle to use tools safely and effectively. Warriors Prosthetic Initiative went looking for a solution.
Warriors Prosthetic Initiative has partnered with LifeWork Adapter to make life easier for our fellow veterans.
LifeWork® Adapter developed devices that enable those with upper body limb loss to safely and effectively use power tools and gardening equipment.
In additional, LifeWork™ Adapter develops other devices for adapting sporting equipment for use with prosthetics used by those with upper body limb loss.
The adapted power tools provided by LifeWork Adapter have been life-changing for many of the veterans we serve.
As one veteran put it, "LifeWork® Adapter has allowed me to regain function and go back to work in the field that I know and love... it allows me to live my life the way I want."
Another recipient told us, "Thanks to the LifeWork® Adapter, I can get projects done much faster and safer than ever before. I've used power tools with my prosthesis for years, and while I've made it work, I had never been able to get a reliable, repeatable, stable and safe grip on any two-handed tool until now."
The feedback from veterans makes it clear - LifeWork® adapters empower them to take on projects and tradeswork in ways they never imagined possible.
So many of our injured veterans want to “get back down range.”
For our founder DaTrelle, who was injured while diffusing an IED, that meant getting back down range in theater. But, for many veterans, it means returning to hobbies or careers they love.
Some even want to continue to serve like DaTrelle.
At the Warriors Prosthetic Initiative, we rely on support from people like you to empower injured veterans and first responders to regain their independence. Here are some impactful ways you can get involved and make a difference:

Warriors Prosthetic Initiative is raising funds to give away adapters to injured veterans. For every $6500 raised, we will be able to train and give away a full LifeWork™ Adapter Tool Kit, which includes adapted reciprocating saw, circular saw, grinder, and oscillating multi-tool from DeWALT.
In service to those who were injured in service to us, we adapt the world so that those who served can return to work that interests them and hobbies they love.
